Preparing Your Pet For Travel

Seven to ten days before a flight, help your pet become accustomed with the carrier it will be traveling in. Make it a positive experience by placing the carrier near your pet's food or in a favorite family spot. Entice your pet to enter its carrier with a treat, his toy and praise.

Exercise your pet just prior to travel. Keep your normal routines of feeding and walks as consistent as possible.

If your pet will be riding in a car and doesn't typically travel that way, help reduce your pet's anxiety by taking short drives before the road trip.
