Entering Canada, dogs and cats over three months old need proof of a rabies vaccination from a licensed veterinarian; CFIA does not require a health certificate or microchip for personal pets crossing by land. Coming back into the US, dogs need a CDC Dog Import Form receipt, a microchip readable by a universal scanner, and must be at least six months old.
