Keep your furry friends calm, safe, and stress-free this Halloween
Halloween can be a treat for humans, but for pets the sights, sounds, and surprises can feel spooky. Plan ahead to keep them safe and comfortable during the holiday hustle.
At WorldCare Pet Transport, we’ve moved thousands of pets worldwide, and we know a little preparation goes a long way, especially on the noisiest night of the year.
1) Keep identification up to date
Halloween is one of the most common times for pets to go missing. With open doors for trick-or-treaters and extra commotion, make sure your pet is:
- Microchipped and registered with current contact details
- Wearing a secure collar and ID tag
2) Skip costumes during travel
We love cute costumes, but not in transit. If you do plan on travelling with your pet, outfits can restrict movement, cause overheating, or snag on carriers. Pack the costume in your luggage and let your pet show it off once they’re settled.
3) Minimize loud noises and bright lights
Fireworks, party music, trick-or-treaters, and flashing decor can spook pets.
- Set up a quiet room away from the front door; include favorite toys and a familiar blanket.
- Keep candles, lit jack-o’-lanterns, and cords out of reach.
- Store glow sticks safely. If chewed, the liquid can cause drooling and discomfort.

4) Keep treats out of reach
Chocolate, xylitol (in sugar-free candy), and raisins are toxic to dogs and cats. Never place Halloween candy where your pets can reach them. If you’re giving out treats, store them away to avoid accidental exposure. Learn more.
5) Create a comfort kit
Help your pet feel at home amid the noise:
- A small blanket or T-shirt with your scent
- A favorite toy
- A water bowl
- Their favorite treat
